FOREIGN EXCHANGE MANAGEMENT ACT: FEMA

India's steady economic liberalization and its embrace of the global economy have been key factors consequent upon which foreign nationals and corporates have started looking beyond their borders to expand their business and invest their funds either directly or by acquiring already established businesses by way of joint ventures or collaborations.

To promote Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the Government has put in place an investor friendly policy, wherein except for a small negative list, most sectors are open for 100% FDI under the Automatic route. Further, the policy on FDI is reviewed on an ongoing basis, after having intensive consultations with stakeholders including apex industry chambers, associations, representatives of industries/groups and other organizations taking into consideration their views/comments, to ensure that India remains attractive & investor friendly destination.
